Engine

Your car brakes are essential for the safety of yourself and other road users while you are driving.  Brakes wear out over time, requiring service.

You're not road-ready if the braking system on your vehicle is malfunctioning. The earliest warning sign of needed brake repairs is the high-pitched squeal when you brake. Brakes are designed to give you this early alert when the brake pads have worn too low.

The new brake pads or shoes that we install on your vehicle will restore your brakes to manufacturers' specifications or we can install upgraded parts to increase your stopping power, reducing brake noise, and brake dust. We have several options to fit into your budget.

You can avoid extensive and expensive repairs to your braking system by coming to Ken’s Automotive. Let us help you save time and money by performing any brake inspection or brake service that you need. We handle all brake repairs correctly the first time!

Act quickly when you notice warning signs of misaligned wheels. The sooner we can inspect your wheels, the sooner we can return your vehicle to its original condition.

Wheel alignment is a normal wear-and-tear maintenance item - our technicians will make sure your wheels are straightened to exacting standards and you’ll be driving straight and safer for years.

Tires

At Ken’s Automotive Center, we value the safety of our customers above all else. We want you driving a reliable and safe vehicle so that you get to where you're going every time. A major problem area for many of the customers that come into Ken’s is their vehicle's tires.

Your tires are your connection to the road, and without them doing their job properly, all the handling development and safety testing that went into your car may not keep you safe. Give us a call for a tire rotation - at the same time, we will check for tire wear and balance. If your tires are tired and need replacing, we will help you select the right set for your vehicle. We carry all the major brands:

Consistent oil changes and attention to preventative maintenance is the key to quality performance and longevity in your vehicle.

Oil changes are a key component of your vehicle's engine. Ken’s Automotive Center in Grand Ledge, Michigan, will recommend how often you should have your oil changed based on your vehicle's age, the manufacturer's recommendation and your driving habits. You must have sufficient lubrication to maintain a fully-functioning and durable engine.

When oil changes are neglected, the oil eventually turns to petroleum jelly. This sludge clogs up oil passages and keeps oil from getting into critical areas of the engine causing premature engine wear and can result in extensive repairs.

When you stay on top of your vehicle's oil changes, you'll get better overall engine performance, better gas mileage, and an extended road-life. Our technicians use only the top oil brands and use the appropriate grade of oil for your vehicle.

TUNE-UPS

Even though many spark plugs are designed to last 100,000 miles, they can still fail prematurely. Ignition wires lose shielding ability over time, and the connection to the plug or ignition coil can degrade as well. Having your service technician regularly inspect your ignition system can help you avoid conditions that may result in poor performance or reduced fuel economy.

Ensuring that your vehicle receives a tune-up according to manufacturer recommendations will help maintain the optimum performance of your vehicle and extend its life. Our certified tune-up service technicians are ready to put their experience to work for you, ensuring your vehicle is operating at an optimal level of performance.

Performing regular maintenance, including scheduled auto tune-up service, helps ensure a long life for your vehicle. Our experienced technicians will inspect your vehicle and, if necessary:

  • Replace spark plugs, wires, and boots

  • Replace distributor cap

  • Replace distributor rotor

  • Replace fuel filter

  • Replace PCV valve

  • Replace oxygen sensor

  • Analyze exhaust emissions

  • Replace air filter

  • Perform a comprehensive maintenance inspection
